Requirements
A glass bottle manufacturing facility in Scotland required an industrial water boosting solution after upgrading two glass furnaces. The new furnace technology needed stronger and more reliable water pressure to support cooling, process stability and continuous production.
However, with new furnace technology in place, the existing water pressure and flow on-site were no longer sufficient. The upgraded systems required significantly stronger and more reliable water pressure to ensure continuous cooling of machinery, controlled cooling of molten glass during bottle formation, enhanced process stability, quality control, and protection from overheating.
It was essential that the water boosting solution be robust, energy-efficient, and compliant with all relevant standards for use in an industrial production environment.
The Solution
After conducting a full site assessment and consulting closely with the factory’s engineering team, we specified and supplied a bespoke Powerboost Pro water boosting system tailored to the site’s needs.
This industrial water boosting system was designed to deliver consistent pressure and flow across the upgraded furnace cooling process.
All units were built using high-performance DP pumps, known for their efficiency and reliability in demanding industrial environments. Each set is Reg4 compliant and certified by WRAS.
The Powerboost Pro sets were delivered fully pre-assembled and tested, allowing for quick on-site installation and commissioning.
Equipment Supplied:
● Three triple pump booster sets, each delivering up to 112.5 m³/h at 2.5 bar when the 3 pumps are running simultaneously
● One triple pump set, delivering 22.5 m³/h at 4 bar when the 3 pumps are running simultaneously
● Two twin pump sets, each delivering 20 m³/h at 3 bar when the 2 pumps are running simultaneously

The result
The glass factory is successfully using the two newly refurbished furnaces, keeping customers happy and meeting demand. In addition, the factory is also prioritising sustainability by using water more efficiently throughout its operations, reducing waste, and optimising cooling cycles.
