Requirements
Our Industrial Products Manager, Andrew Black, was contacted by a chemical manufacturing company in the South East that required a more reliable pumping solution for handling hazardous fluids.
The company had been experiencing ongoing issues with a flushed mechanical seal on an existing pump. The unstable running conditions were causing repeated seal failures and chemical leakage, creating both operational and environmental concerns.
Because chemical spills can pose risks to both workers and the surrounding environment, the customer needed a solution that would improve reliability and reduce the risk of leakage. In addition, the replacement system needed to operate efficiently within the site’s existing pipework and process conditions.
The Solution
Magdrive pumps are commonly used in chemical manufacturing because they can safely handle corrosive and hazardous fluids without the need for mechanical seals.
After visiting the site, our team assessed the existing system and calculated the required pressure and duty point. This allowed us to correctly size and specify a suitable Magdrive pump for the application.
The seal-less magnetic drive design helped eliminate the risk of seal failure and reduced the possibility of chemical leakage. As a result, the customer gained a safer and more reliable pumping solution for their production process.

The result
The new Magdrive pump provided the chemical company with a more reliable and efficient solution for handling hazardous fluids. Because the seal-less design removes the need for mechanical seals, the risk of leakage was significantly reduced. This improved both operational safety and system reliability across the site.
Following the successful installation, the customer asked us to identify additional problematic pumps across the facility. The site is now replacing more units with glandless Magdrive pumps to improve long-term performance and reduce maintenance issues.
