Category | Borehole Pump for Irrigation

Requirements
The customer needed an urgent replacement after a borehole pump breakdown affected their irrigation system.
The site had an old British Pleuger pump with a 75 kW motor. This system was running two irrigation machines, but performance had started to drop. As a result, the pump could no longer run both irrigators at the same time.
Recent dry weather made the issue more urgent. Therefore, the customer needed a fast replacement to restore irrigation and protect site operations.
The Solution
We sized and selected a suitable replacement pump to meet the site’s irrigation requirements. In addition, we improved efficiency by specifying a 55 kW motor controlled by a Variable Speed Drive (VSD).
Our team built, tested and dispatched the replacement system from stock within 24 hours. This helped reduce downtime and allowed the customer to restore irrigation as quickly as possible.
The VSD was pre-programmed before delivery, which reduced onsite setup work and simplified commissioning. Furthermore, our team provided onsite support during installation to help get water back onto the crops without delay.
Equipment Supplied:
● 8″ borehole pump capable of supplying 120m3/hr at 13.5 bar
● 1 x 55kW Franklin DOL motor
● 1 x 150 amp IP66 Intertek Variable speed drive (VSD) & pressure transducer
● 1 x Fabricated Flange outlet adapted to suit 4″ BSP thread to suit rising main pipework & 50x mtrs of Proline 4″ heavy duty rising main pipe and stainless steel adaptor fittings with pump guard.

The result
The new installation has reduced the electrical load by 20amps and is running 2 irrigators where the old pump was only capable of running 1 irrigator in the end. All equipment was built, tested and dispatched from our warehouse within 24hrs which meant the site was back up and running within 4 days.
