An industrial reverse osmosis system uses a high-pressure pump to push water through a semi-permeable membrane. This process removes impurities and produces high-purity water. Reverse osmosis is widely used because it is efficient, reliable and cost-effective. It can support many applications, from domestic and commercial water treatment to large industrial processes.

Industrial systems are built for sites that need higher volumes of clean water. For example, they are often used for steam boilers, food and drink production, bottled water, heating and cooling circuits, farming, pharmaceutical work, chemical manufacturing and other process water applications. As a result, choosing the right industrial reverse osmosis system is important. The system must match the site’s water quality, flow rate, pressure requirements and daily demand.

How to Choose the Right Industrial Reverse Osmosis System

To select the right industrial reverse osmosis system, we first need to understand your site and water use. This helps us size the system correctly and choose the right pre-treatment.

Key details include:
Raw water quality
Daily and peak flow requirements
Existing storage and pumping equipment
Available installation space

A private water supply will usually need a full water analysis. This shows what needs to be removed before the water reaches the RO system.

Commercial and industrial RO systems usually produce water with a quality of around 10–15µS. However, this can vary depending on raw water quality, temperature and the application. Where higher quality water is required, we can add mixed bed polishing after the RO system.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

Most industrial reverse osmosis systems need pre-treatment. This protects the RO membranes and helps the system work efficiently. Pre-treatment can remove hardness, heavy metals, chlorine and organic matter. As a result, it helps prevent membrane damage and keeps running costs lower.

Do Industrial RO systems require regular servicing ?

Industrial reverse osmosis systems generally require less maintenance and servicing than other water treatment systems. Still, we would recommend servicing the RO system and pre-treatment equipment twice per year in order for maximum efficiency to be achieved.
