Requirements
A farm in Shropshire urgently needed a farm irrigation pump replacement after an 8” borehole pump and motor failed on site. When irrigation systems stop working, crops can quickly be affected. In this case, the failed system supplied water to two irrigators being used for a carrot crop. Without a fast replacement, the farm risked disruption to irrigation and potential crop damage.
Agricultural irrigation projects often present different challenges depending on the location, water demand and site layout. Therefore, the customer required a reliable borehole pump solution that could be supplied quickly and installed with minimal delay.
The Solution
Our team sized and selected a suitable replacement borehole pump from available stock. We then built, tested and dispatched the system from our warehouse within three days.
The selected 8” pump was capable of delivering 105 m³/hr at 15 bar, providing the performance needed for the farm irrigation system.
To help speed up installation, the Variable Speed Drive (VSD) was pre-programmed before delivery. As a result, the customer could get the irrigation system back up and running as quickly as possible while reducing onsite setup work.
Equipment Supplied:
● S8-100/10 Borehole Pump & 1 x 55kW Franklin DOL motor
● 36 meters of submersible cable with new joint kit fitted
● 1 x 150 amp IP66 Intertek Variable Speed Drive (VSD)
● 1 x fabricated flange outlet adapted to suit 4” BSP thread to suit customer site requirements
The Variable Speed Drive was pre-programmed to ensure our customer was able to get back up and running onsite in the fastest time possible with minimum site works required. This is a service we are happy to offer as it means our pump systems can begin working flawlessly as quickly as possible.

The result
The farm quickly restored irrigation to the carrot crop and avoided extended downtime.
