Requirements

A farmer in Norfolk, East Anglia, experienced a critical irrigation pump failure during a period of hot weather. The existing borehole pump, which had been in service for around eight years, was beyond repair and required urgent replacement. Without a working irrigation system, the farmer faced the risk of crop damage and significant financial losses. Our customer contacted several leading irrigation pump suppliers in the region, including Caprari, Geo Quip (Franklin), and Briggs. However, none were able to provide a suitable replacement within the required timeframe. As a result, our customer turned to us for assistance.

The Solution

Despite being contacted after other suppliers had been unable to help, Pedrollo Distribution was able to respond immediately. With stock available and the technical expertise to identify a suitable replacement, we supplied a pump capable of matching or exceeding the required head and flow performance, along with all associated components. This ensured the customer could install the replacement quickly and restore irrigation without unnecessary delay.

Equipment Supplied:

● 1 x Franklin Sand Fighter 30kW motor end

● 1 x Pedrollo 6SR 44/25 borehole wet end

● 70m of cable, factory-jointed prior to delivery

The result

The replacement pump restored irrigation at a critical time and has delivered excellent performance. The farmer has already been able to reduce engine revs when operating the system, resulting in lower fuel consumption and reduced running costs.

The pump has performed so well that the customer believes it may be capable of supplying two irrigation reels from a single pump, compared to the previous arrangement of one reel per pump. While this configuration is still being tested, it has the potential to further improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
